I created this PHLY INSURANCE COMPANY commission 2013 as a commemorative tribute of the family to to the founder’s 50 years of success.
It is not every day that an artist receives a cold call from the CEO of a 5 Billion Dollar Public Insurance Company. But that is exactly what happen when Jamie Mcguire Jr. , CEO of Philadelphia Insurance Companies wrote the Pop Artist the following email on July 28, 2012
”Hello, A true & inspiring entrepreneurial story. 50 years ago, James Maguire started Philadelphia Insurance Companies (www.phly.com) and after becoming a public company in 1993, realized his dream of becoming a successful, multi-billion dollar corporation. November 9th, 500 key partners/employees/customers will gather at the Constitution Center to celebrate PHLY’s Entrepreneurial Spirit & Jim Maguire’s legacy. I would like a commemorative painting which captures the energy, passion, people & places which have mad us so successful. With time so short, please contact me discuss.”
Thank you. -Jamie Maguire (Jim Maguire’s oldest son & current Chairman & CEO)
What followed was six weeks of precise art direction between Milou and Mcguire, forming an artistic team in creating Milou’s Commemorative Masterwork titled PHLY 50! The 96/66 inch mixed media oil on linen combines the artist signature Pop style, including central portriats of Jim Mcguire Sr. and his wife Frannie. Corporate logo’s of partners and other significent VIPS in the company are either painted or three dimensional photographs that create an incredible collage within the canvas.
The Maguire’s have been married for 55 years and residents of Chestnut Hill, PA for more than 43 years. They are very proud of their 9 children and 21 grandchildren. Their oldest son, James J. Maguire, Jr., assumed the position of President and CEO of Philadelphia Insurance Companies in 2002 and was subsequently named Chairman of the Board in February of 2010.
THE CONCLUSION: PHLY INSURANCE COMPANY COMMISSION 2013
The masterwork was stategically showcased at the 50th Anniversary Gala held at The National Constitution Center on the evening of Nov 9th 2012. With the entire Mcguire family present as well as 500 key partners, including Shuzo Sumi,CEO of Tokio Marine Group. The painting was a smashing success. So much so, that Mr. Mcguire purchased the copyright from the artist and is presenting over 2000 employees and partners nationwide a signed 36/24 inch lithograph of the painting.
