The HAIR OF THE DOG 2013 event was undeniably “Philly’s most glamorous bash”. This is the second year that I have participated in Philadelphia’s 1st iconic fundraising party of the New Year. Founders and long time friends Dan Cronin and Rob Molinaro raised the bar even higher this year visioning a 70’s style disco theme partnered with Martino Cartier’s FRIENDS ARE BY YOUR SIDE FOUNDATION.
THE CAUSE: HAIR OF THE DOG 2013
Hair O’ The Dog was created in 1995 by longtime friends and business partners Daniel Cronin and Robert Molinaro. They decided that their love of fun, combined with their whip-smart business sense could generate income for non-profits through fundraising, and from this thinking, the Hair O’ The Dog was born. Daniel and Robert were thrilled when their first Hair O’ The Dog gala, held at the Tiki Club in King Of Prussia, had a 100 person turn out! Each year since, this glamorous gala has grown in both size and prominence. Today, the event attracts thousands of partiers. Held yearly at an exclusive venue, a portion of the event proceeds various Philadelphia charitable organizations, such as:
- Friends Are by Your Side Foundation
- Big Brothers, Big Sisters
- The Garden of Reflection (PA’s official 9-11 memorial)
- The National Constitution Center
- Habitat for Humanity, Project H.O.M.E.
THE ART: POP ARTIST PAINTS LIVE FOR SIMONS FUND
I combined my Fine Pop style with Philly Abstract expressionist Glenn Stevens and our “Dueling Brushes” concept once again hit the ground running! We attacked an 8/4 foot canvas live on stage from 8pm – 2 am infront of 1000+ party-goers. By nights end, a $3000.00 bid was registered with the auction scheduled to continue throughout the weekend.
The Pop Surreal disco landscape complete with portraits, of the iconic “Hair of The Dog” logo doing his own Tony Manero/Travolta, (Saturday Night Fever), Michael Jackson, Rick James, Donna Summers, Diana Ross, Dick Clark and James Brown. Stevens Jackson Pollock-ed out a series of 45 LP and in his trademark style created great dimension on the canvas while also adding many glittery elements, crystals, fabric, and mirrors. The exciting collaboration reveals great spontaneous energy and cutting edge contemporary style.
